Mean, Median, Mode, Range Calculator
A simple, focused tool to calculate the four most common measures of central tendency and dispersion (Mean, Median, Mode, and Range) for any set of numbers.
⏳
Formula
Mean = Sum / Count | Range = Maximum - MinimumMode- The most frequently occurring number(s)
Median- The middle value when sorted (or average of two middle values)
Example
Finding Measures of Central Tendency
Calculate for the data set: 4, 1, 7, 1, 2.
- Sort the data: 1, 1, 2, 4, 7.
- Mean: (1+1+2+4+7)/5 = 15/5 = 3.
- Median: The middle value in the sorted list is 2.
- Mode: The number 1 appears twice (most frequent).
- Range: Maximum (7) - Minimum (1) = 6.
- Result: Mean=3, Median=2, Mode=1, Range=6.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. If multiple numbers tie for the highest frequency, the dataset is called 'multimodal' and all of those numbers are considered modes. If no number repeats, the dataset has no mode.
